Just a day after the Victoria's Secret astounding fashion show, a different type of fashion impressed many right on our very campus. This fashion show was put together by Rent the Runway Reps along with Her Campus Illinois.  The ladies really "took a holiday with Her Campus" by rocking their take of the ideal holiday dress. Seventeen collegiate ladies strut their stuff in dresses in shades of champagne, reds, blues, and blacks created by numerous unique designers from Larok and Robert Rodriguez to Nanette Lepore and Nicole Miller. The women were able to pick out their own dress from the site; their personal styles certainly did not go unnoticed. Each dress had its own flair from metallic and sparkles to velvet and silk galore. Whether or not glitz and glam is the theme of this year's holiday season goes without question.

My personal favorite was a Halston Heritage Disco Print Butterfly dress worn by gorgeous model Margeaux Flannery. Easily gravitating towards color at any season, I loved the crew neckline and open slit sleeve with organza detail. It was an exclusive dress with an uncommon style (who doesn't love a new trend?).

All of the dresses featured were chosen off of the Rent the Runway site whose motto is “Love, Wear, Return.” Rent the Runway offers an incredible dream designer closet that can be delivered to any door at 90% off retail.  With a calendar booked with winter events this holiday season, a fashionable closet can’t be forgotten. Her Campus Illinois event: "Take a Holiday With Her Campus"

Hey everyone! Since there are two iStyle bloggers, we will be splitting this update between the two of us to tell you about "Take a Holiday With Her Campus," an event hosted by Her Campus Illinois.

Evan:
"Take a Holiday With Her Campus" was all about being pampered -- early arrives were treated to gift bags and all attendees could enjoy the wide selection of booths. Guests could also participate in various raffles and enjoy performances by the Other Guys, 3 Spot and Illini Dance Team, not to mention the runway show where Noura made her debut.

Booths included:

Rod Sickler hair services

Stella & Dot Jewelry

makeup application and tutorials by Morgan Byrne Cosmetics

and the Rent the Runway booth, manned by iStyle member Keri Cottle.

Noura:
So, for the fashion show featuring outfits from Rent the Runway, I had the fantastic opportunity to wear one of the dresses and close the show (crazy, right?!)

Backstage was quite hectic! There were a lot of people running around trying to see which dresses would look best on who. After we all settled who would wear what, we went for a practice walk.
Not going to lie, it was pretty nerve-wracking! But other girls admitted to me their nervousness and that made things a lot easier.

While the people co-ordinating the event were setting everything up in the main room, we focused on getting our make-up done, practicing our walks and poses, and just trying to relax a little before the show.
When it was finally the time to walk, the Rent the Runway team donned their dresses and organized the models into a colour-coordinated order, with me right at the end.

First off, we had the Halston Heritage Liquid Gold Dress:

Finally, yours truly in the Jay Godfrey Vegas Blackjack Poncho:
Everyone looked gorgeous!
No one messed up and we all finished the show with the standard group walks that you see on professional runways.
Afterwards, we were all congratulated, and told we could go and check out the rest of the event.
It was really lovely to see all the booths and talk to some people about their favourite dresses, and I cannot wait for the next time something like this happens!
(To be honest, the food was pretty fantastic too)
